Sitapur. MP Rakesh Rathore, who is lodged in the district jail on the charge of rape, was granted bail on Tuesday. He was arrested 40 days ago. Meanwhile, the news of the MP’s bail brought joy to his supporters. There was a continuous stream of people congratulating him at the MP’s residence in Loharbagh. The MP’s brother Anupam Rathore said that God definitely does justice. Truth can be troubled but never defeated.

It is worth noting that the last hearing on the bail plea of the MP was held on 27 February. At that time, the court had asked the investigating officer to complete the investigation along with the case diary and submit the case. A rape case was registered against the MP on 17 January.

After the MP’s anticipatory bail plea was rejected, he was sent to jail on January 30. However, even after getting bail, the MP will not be able to be released from jail. This is because the police investigated and filed a charge sheet on Tuesday. In this, the investigator has increased section 69 of BNS. Under BNS 69, having physical relations with a woman by making a false promise of marriage is considered a crime. Whereas the case was being heard under section 64 of rape.

In such a situation, after the charge sheet is filed, the MP will now have to get bail under the new section. The debate went on for about two hours in the High Court. It is believed that the MP has got bail on the basis that why did the victim not register the case even after four years.
