Lakhimpur Kheri. After broad gauge, there was hope that travelling in trains will become easier, but the opposite happened. Earlier, 12 pairs of trains used to run in meter gauge, whereas now only four pairs are running in broad gauge. Due to reduction in bogies, passengers are forced to travel standing in trains.

There are only four pairs of trains going to and coming from Lucknow to Mailani. There is no direct train from Lucknow to Bareilly, while about two to two and a half thousand passengers travel on this route from Lakhimpur every day. If we talk about Lakhimpur, Gola, Mailani and other stations, then about 12 to 15 thousand passengers travel by trains every day in the district.

A large number of tickets are being sold from here. Despite this, the railway is not increasing the number of trains, nor is it making arrangements for a direct train from Lucknow to Bareilly. Passengers say that they feel cheated after the broad gauge has been made. They say that there has been no benefit from the broad gauge, only the number of goods trains has increased on this line.
Apart from this, there are fewer bogies in the trains. The Mailani Passenger going from Daliganj to Mailani has only eight ordinary bogies. Due to this, passengers do not get any space. In such a situation, they have to travel standing. After the gauge conversion, Northeast Railway has run only a limited number of trains on the Lucknow-Mailani route.
