Unnao. The district hospital has no cough syrup for three days. The syrup arrived on March 16 after demand and finished on the 22nd. Due to this, cough patients have to buy it from outside. Apart from this, there is no medicine for gas, eye drops and gel to be applied on injuries.
On an average 400 patients reach the district hospital every day with cough, 200 with eye pain and 250 with joint pain. In such a situation, there is no cough syrup in the medicine distribution room of the district hospital for the last three days. After sending the demand letter, 300 syrups were sent on 16 March. These got finished in seven days. Apart from this, 250 eye drops got finished by 15 February. After seeing the doctor, when the patients reach the medicine distribution room to get the medicines, they are not able to get the medicines.
Patients are forced to buy medicines from medical stores. On Tuesday, Rakesh, Ramnaresh, Khushi, Mohit, Ram Kumar etc. standing in line outside the medicine distribution room said that many of the medicines prescribed by the doctor were not available in the room. So now these medicines will have to be bought from medical stores. They demanded the hospital administration to make the medicines available.
Jan Aushadhi Kendra closed for six months
To give relief to patients from expensive medicines, Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra was started in the district hospital in the year 2018. Generic medicines are available in this center which are much cheaper than the patented medicines available in the market. But here, due to the lack of tender process from October 2024, the operation of Jan Aushadhi Kendra stopped. Due to not getting all the medicines in the medicine distribution room, patients are forced to buy these medicines at two to three times more expensive price than the market.
