Laharpur (Sitapur). A seminar was organized in the block auditorium on Wednesday as part of the Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign under the National Leprosy Eradication Program. Anganwadi workers and ICDS supervisors participated in it.
PMW Dharmendra Kumar Maurya of the Community Health Center gave detailed information to dispel misconceptions related to leprosy. He said that this disease is not contracted by getting up, sitting or touching a leprosy patient. Leprosy is not a curse. It is caused by a bacteria which gets cured after treatment.
He said that timely treatment of leprosy does not cause disability in the body. In the end, he made all Anganwadi workers and supervisors take a pledge to not discriminate against leprosy patients and to make the district free from leprosy.
