Laharpur (Sitapur). Two houses were flooded due to the breakage of the track of Laharpur Minor flowing through Laharpur Tehsil area near Nevada. Due to this, the family has to live on the roof. The crops grown in about 15 bigha field near the minor got submerged. The fish farmers have suffered losses as the fish in the pond were washed away with the flow. According to the officials of the Irrigation Department, the track has been damaged due to the pressure of water caused by irrigating the crops by making a dam in the canal.
On Monday morning, near Nevada village, the right track of the minor was cut towards the village. Its water filled the houses of Suhail and Muqeem built nearby. Due to this, the daily use items and furniture kept in the house got damaged. Both the families are living on the roof of the house.
Due to the water of the minor filling up the fields, four bighas of wheat crop of farmers Mujammil, Rafiq and Guddu, two bighas of mustard of Noor Mohammad and one bigha of wheat crop of Amin got submerged. This has caused a lot of damage. Apart from this, Mailu has suffered a huge loss as the fish reared in the pond were washed away in the water.
According to the villagers, the soil of the minor tracks keeps getting eroded slowly due to the flow of water. Due to this, the tracks get weakened and get eroded as soon as the water pressure is applied. Apart from this, due to the silt not being cleaned properly, the water does not flow properly. This also increases the pressure on the track, and the track gets damaged at the place where it is weak. Earlier also, the minor track has been eroded many times at this place.
The track was cut due to the construction of the dam
. The farmers blocked the water for irrigation by building a dam in the minor. Due to this, the track was cut due to the pressure of water. The water of the minor has been stopped, soon the track will be repaired and water will be made available to the farmers for irrigation.
