In Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, one of the three rhinoceroses released for free movement from Page One of the Rhino rehabilitation scheme got lost and reached outside the forest, however, in the evening, its location was found in the forest. After this, the Dudhwa administration heaved a sigh of relief.
Vijayshree, one of the three female rhinoceros released for free movement from the Rhino rehabilitation scheme phase one in Lakhimpur Kheri’s Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, lost her way and reached the outskirts of the forest on Wednesday. After roaming around the outskirts for the whole day, her location was again found in the forest in the evening.
As soon as the information about the female rhino reaching the outskirts of the forest was received, there was a stir in the forest department. The forest officials started efforts to bring the female rhino back to the forest. Immediately, the trained female elephants Amrita and Teresa from Dudhwa present at Kamahya forest post were sent along with the team of mahouts and forest personnel to drive the female rhino back. After this, Vijayshree returned to the forest by evening.
