Unnao. On the instructions of the government, in the investigation of 1803 properties registered in the name of the Waqf Board, 589 properties are registered as government properties in the records. These have been investigated, out of which 1762 belong to Sunni and 41 to Shia Waqf Board. According to the Revenue Department, the value of the land is estimated to be more than two billion rupees. The ADM said that after investigation, the report has been sent to the government. Further action will be taken on the basis of whatever orders are given.
The district administration had recently conducted an investigation of the properties claimed by the Waqf Board through the SDM and Bhulekh Department of all the tehsils of the district. These include 1762 properties of the Sunni Waqf Board and 41 properties of the Shia Waqf Board. The investigation has confirmed 589 properties to be public.
According to the Revenue Department’s report, 200 properties were declared as the property of the Wakf Board till 35 years ago (1989 or earlier). Whereas in 1995, when the Central Government increased the powers of the Wakf Boards, the properties of the Wakf Board more than doubled.
1803 Waqf properties were matched with the revenue records. Out of these, 589 are recorded as government public properties in the revenue records. Out of these, 255 Waqf properties in Safipur, 14 in Bangarmau, 2 in Hasanganj, 156 in Purwa, 1 in Bighapur and 161 Waqf properties in Tehsil Sadar are recorded as government properties for public use in the records of the Revenue Department. The report has been sent to the government. Action will be taken as per the orders received in future.
