Sitapur. A youth resident of village Raunamau Belandapur of Machrehta died due to electric shock on Saturday evening. On Sunday, the family members first gheraoed the police station and then blocked the Khairabad-Machrehta road and protested.
The family members alleged that the lineman called the young man and made him climb the pole without taking a shutdown. Due to this, he got hit by the current. The police with great difficulty convinced the family members who were protesting demanding action against the accused and ended the blockade. On the basis of the complaint, the accused has been taken into custody and investigation has been started.
According to Radha, a resident of Raunamau Belandapur village, her son Sandeep (35) was called by a lineman from Nai Basti on Saturday evening. Sandeep reached the power house on the lineman’s instructions. From there he was called to Mamupur and made to climb an electric pole. It is alleged that Sandeep was made to climb the 11000 volt electric pole without taking a shutdown. Due to this negligence, he died of electric shock.
It is alleged that the lineman was drunk. The body was sent for postmortem late in the evening. On Sunday morning, the family reached the police station with about 100 villagers and started demanding the arrest of the accused. However, the police had already taken the accused lineman into custody. Here, when the body was brought to the village on a tractor-trolley after the postmortem, the family and villagers became angry. They created a ruckus and blocked the Khairabad-Machhrehta road. Meanwhile, the body remained on the tractor trolley.
There was a heated argument between the policemen and the villagers. Seeing the uproar increasing, the police from the nearby police stations also arrived at the spot. After the uproar that lasted for about two hours, the police succeeded in convincing the family members. CO Misrikh Deepak Kumar said that after pacifying the family members, the last rites of the body are being done. Action will be taken on the basis of the complaint.
