Unnao. The district hospital has not had cotton, bandages and powder etc. for plastering for the past four days. Patients are being turned away asking them to come the next day. The CMS has expressed hope that the material will be available by Monday.
On an average 250 patients related to bone diseases reach the trauma center of the district hospital every day. Doctors advise plastering of the bones of the patients. On April 9, the plastering material and cotton got over. Whereas, according to the health workers, the information about the material getting over was given three days ago, but the material was not available. Now even the admitted patients are not able to get plastering done. Doctors are advising the patients coming to the OPD to tie a warm bandage. Patients with major fractures need immediate plastering.
Vijay Shanti of Algangarh said that her nine-year-old daughter Naina was injured while playing. When the doctors did an X-ray at the district hospital, it revealed a fracture. The doctor advised to get the plaster done. They have been making rounds of the hospital but the plaster has not been done yet.
Phoolmati of Nehru Bagh said that she slipped and fell in the house. Due to this, her right hand got fractured. The doctor has advised to get a raw plaster done first and then a permanent one. If the raw plaster has not been applied till now, when will the permanent one be applied? The workers are turning her away asking her to come the next day.
CMS said that
plastering of critical patients is being done somehow. After sending the demand letter, senior officials have also been talked to. Efforts are being made continuously to make the material available on Monday.
