To run the six units established at the NTPC project to generate electricity, around 5,000 labourers from the nearby villages are employed through construction companies. The labourers demonstrated at the main gate and raised slogans against the management. Labourers, Ashwini, Amarnath, Neeraj Mishra, Shivanshu Tiwari, Ajit Tiwari, Bal Ji, Mukesh, Arun Pandey, Sujit Yadav, Mahendra Sahu, Beni Madhav, Shakti Chourasiya, Surajpal Ram Kishun, etc. told that the project management has imposed a ban on the use of mobile phones. Due to this, they are unable to inform if someone is sick or has any problem. Bikes are not allowed inside. Due to this, they have to walk around 5 km.

Project’s DGM KM Gupta tried to explain, but the workers did not agree. The workers are adamant on the demand to remove the ban on mobiles and bikes. Project’s DGM Human Resources Disha Awasthi said that Android phones are banned. Keypad mobiles are allowed. Talks are being held with the workers. There is no problem in operating the units.
